From Engineering to Accounting – Our Story

• Adjunct Faculty Instructor – Oakland Community College, Royal Oak, MI. Taught a four-credit hour Managerial Accounting course.
• Tutor/Exam Prep Instructor – Walsh College, Troy, MI. Assisted students at all levels of accounting from introductory coursework through CPA Exam prep. 
• 20+ years experience in high-volume manufacturing firms – Original equipment and Tier-1 suppliers. Roles included – Account management, business development, engineering (product design- exterior vehicle lighting), finance, and project/program management.
• Highlights:
  • Product Line Manager for automotive aftermarket systems and components (Rostra Accessories, Laurinburg, NC.) Developed a database tool and process to prioritize all projects based on ROS, cost, and timing required to develop projects and launch.
  • Program Manager for hybrid electric motors and Li-Ion battery packs (Hitachi Automotive Systems, Farmington Hills, MI.) Oversaw the launch of Hitachi’s first complete hybrid system for the GM Saturn Vue vehicle.

• MBA-Finance, (Honors), Wayne State University, Detroit. 
• B.S. Electrical Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
• Completed 30 credit hours of Accounting and Tax coursework. 
• Enrolled Agent (EA) authorized to represent Clients in all matters before the IRS.
• QuickBooks (Online) advanced ProAdvisor.
• Licensed Insurance Agent (State of Michigan) for life and health policies.
• Hobbies – Cycling, Football Saturday’s in A2, Guitar (mediocre, pentatonic blues-rock player). 

I’ve always wanted to work with numbers. As an Engineer, I wanted to understand the practical, financial impact(s) that every design, component or manufacturing decision had on my organization. My Dad was an Accountant at Ford Motor for 32 years, so that’s probably where I got it. Data drives decisions, and I’ve always enjoyed the process where solid data and financials are used to make high-quality decisions.

Unable to obtain his CPA credential (because of hiring practices) after passing the exam in 2016, Mike started Engineered Accounting Solutions, LLC (EAS, LLC) in 2017 (formerly, The Mobile Accountant, LLC) dedicated to helping the underserved small business market, targeting Construction Contractors, Small Manufacturer’s and Transport and Logistics Providers.
